Vance's Presentation. IATEFL Exeter 2008

I am listening to Vance, giving his presentation.
Multiliterate Autonomous Learner is the main frame. The topic here is: Multiliteracies and the inculcation of strategies for livelong learning.
It was part ofthe IAEFTL, Exeter Event and updated the 9th of April 2008.
He explains RSS, Aggregation and Tagging, among other things. You have to know that when I say "other things" refering to Vance's talks it means a whole collection of ideas that are new to me.

I have a question though... Where was Vance when he recorded the presentation? At Men's College at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi UAE the 12th of April 2008.
I always get confused, he, he.

Here is the recorded presentation at Elluminate. You will feel you were there!

I am also reading last Sunday's TappedIn script. Webheads meet every sunday at TappedIn at 12:00 GMT. It is too early for me to attend live but I have a beautiful flower called Daffodil sharing the sripts with me and I read and follow it during the week. I am learning a lot that way! Thanks Nergiz!

Second Life, another site that keeps me away from here

I am helper at Second Life English. Of course I am learning, Nergiz and Daf have been there to teach me how to move with my avatar and do things there.
Here is an invitation to a Free conference at Second Life, please feel free to join.

I have a long way to go but I think is a wonderful tool to teach languages.
The problem is that it requires powerful computers to enter and not all cyber cafes have them.

Gonzalo has been helping me a lot with the hardware so I can visit, he got me a graphic card that allows me to be at Second Life though my PC still crashes sometimes.

Here is a video about how to send and create a notecard in SL

BaeL, This is what is keeping me busy

Well, I had not posted here for weeks.
This site is what has been keeping me busy for the last weeks.
I am learning a lot! I had never created a site or a Yahoo Group to actually invite people and learn together.

To be moderating my first online course is a wonderful experience and a challenge. To have it in Spanish has allowed me to get my family and neighbors closer.

I finally discovered where my color pallet has been. Blogger provides it in Spanish, I get they have learned that Latin people love color.

Your Documents Online

I will start my BaeL course on the 24th of this month.
I am looking for a place online to store files.

I found that as I am working from different computers at the cyber cafe my USB is getting messy with all the documents I create in one computer and then in another.
I decided to save everything on my USB to avoid having different documents on the same subject. I learned the hard way that it was not a wise decision because once my USB got a bug and I lost all the content.

I saw then that my best option was to store my files online, if I get collaboration, which it does not seem to be the case for this first online course due to bad timing, then it will be easy to share those documents.

At FileDen you have:
Hotlinking allowed for all allowed file extensions, including videos and music files.
1GB of personal storage space.
A 50mb maximum file size limit
5GB of monthly bandwidth

At BoxNet you have:
Upload files to your Box
Upload large documents, photos, spreadsheets, videos, or zip files to your personal online space.
Access files from any computer
Create shared folders on Box to collaborate with clients, colleagues, and friends.
Edit documents and photos online
With OpenBox Services, you can edit your documents and photos directly from the web.

At GoogleDocs you have:
Create basic documents from scratch.
You can easily do all the basics, including making bulleted lists, sorting by columns, adding tables, images, comments, formulas, changing fonts and more. And it's free.

Upload your existing files.
Google Docs accepts most popular file formats, including DOC, XLS, ODT, ODS, RTF, CSV, PPT, etc. So go ahead and upload your existing files.

Familiar desktop feel makes editing a breeze.
Just click the toolbar buttons to bold, underline, indent, change font or number format, change cell background color and so on.

VoiceThread Introduction

Voice Thread is a tool that features voice, images and text. I have found it easy to use. I may use it for BaeL course in summer. Here is a tutorial shared by Sharon Betts.
